Torishima have signed a contract with the Public Authority for Industry (PAI), Kuwait, for the extension, development and enhancement of sea water cooling plant C in the Shuaiba Industrial area.

The original plant was installed and handed over to PAI by Torishima approx 25 years ago. In order to meet the increased demand of cooling water to the various consumers, including refinery plants in the industrial areas, the existing plant will be upgraded by replacing the pumping plant.

Under this contract, Torishima will supply major mechanical and electrical equipment with the modification of civil works and equipment installation being completed by Torishima's partner, Doosan Heavy Industries, Korea.

This project continues to emphasis Torishima's position within the Kuwait market as a major turnkey contractor for key pumping plants and will provide a foundation for future projects which include further expansion to the PAI facilities due for tender in 2005.

• Screening equipment, pump control and monitoring system, HV/LV switchgears, Various valves, 10,000KVA diesel generator set.
